Anthony Mundine "If I lose to Shane Mosley I will retire"

Former champion Anthony Mundine has promised to retire if he loses to three division king "Sugar" Shane Mosley in October. According to News Ltd., Mosley has been offered $1.5 million dollars to fight Mundine in Australia. Mosley, 41, recently returned from a brief one-year retirement. Mundine, 38-years-old and a twelve year veteran, can't afford another loss. He says one more defeat will end his career for good. "I'm looking to fight Shane Mosley and if I lose that ... yeah, I'll call it a day," Mundine told News Ltd. "I'm at that point now where it's kill or be killed, there is nothing else. And that means this next fight, it will be the biggest of my career. I still want the best; still want to knock 'em all over until I reach Floyd Mayweather ... but for that to happen I can't afford to lose. The ball, it's in [Mosley's] court. I've agreed to a deal and am ready to go ... I'm just waiting now for Shane to sign it."

Philadelphia Gym Wars

A Philadelphia gym is a good place for a man bent on homicide. “I remember the day Sonny Liston tried to kill me,” Georgie Benton said. It was 1960, and the two men were preparing to spar at a gym in North Philadelphia. Liston was the top heavyweight contender, about three prone bodies away from the world title. He aimed to turn his sparring partner, poor Georgie Benton, into one of those prone bodies. Liston weighed 220 pounds, Benton 160. It looked like a colossal mismatch. Liston would pound hm from here to the state line, no question. “Sonny was a brute, a bad dude,” said Benton, then a middleweight contender. “We got into the ring, and he started swinging at me. I had to outbox him, sticking and moving, sticking and moving. I wasn't trying to show off, but I had to make him miss. Sonny didn't like it. He got mad.” After two rounds, Liston became frustrated. His hooks and uppercuts, coming in wider and wider arcs, severed the hot, stale air. He began breathing hea

Tony Ayala a look back at the Baby Bull

“His transition from leaving the dressing room to climbing into the ring is phenomenal. He'll take off his robe and throw caution to the wind. Five minutes before the fight he's quiet. We'll tell him his battle plan and you can see the rage build up and his movements start gettingg more pressing. We've got to calm him down or he'll start swinging. He starts getting meaner, no hellos, no compliments. He doesn't adhere to getting close to anyone but his father and me. He's a gentleman, you'd never know hes' a fighter. But in the ring, just get out of his way. “He's a macho guy in there, nobody can hurt him. He'll fight four gorillas. I don't want him to fight four gorillas. Three I know he can take” - Lou Duva, co-manager of undefeated junior middleweight Tony Ayala Jr. The rage was most evident against Mario Maldonado in Syracuse. Malik Scott "I'll devastate Chisora"

Malik Scott says he’ll demolish Dereck Chisora this Saturday night in more devastating style than fellow countryman Tony Thompson who destroyed David Price. Chisora clashes with his American rival at Wembley Arena with the Vacant WBO International Heavyweight title on the line, live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546). Price was smashed in five rounds by Thompson in the rematch earlier this month and Scott is confident he can bash the controversial Finchley puncher. “I saw the fight between Thompson and Price and I knew that Thompson would do it again second time round, it was a great accomplishment, he’s a good, strong heavyweight,” Said Scott. “I’ve sparred with Thompson before and I support any fighter who wears the Stars and Stripes and of course I was happy that he won,” “Even if Thompson didn’t beat Price, I’m on my own path and I will beat Mr. Chisora in devastating style, it will be exciting and I’ll be looking to do a real good job

Salle des etoiles, Monte Carlo, Monaco - Fought at a catch of 171-pounds, Edwin Rodriguez (24-0, 16KOs) destroyed Denis Grachev (13-2-1, 8KOs) with a first round TKO. Rodriguez hurt Grachev with every hard punch that landed to the head and body. He sent Grachev down twice in the first two minutes. Rodriguez then punished Grachev, who was out on his feet, with a heavy barrage of punches until the referee jumped in to wave things off and save Grachev from further punishment. Rodriguez was crowned the winner of a four-fighter international tournament, which also included Hungarian Zsolt Erdei (defeated by Grachev) and Argentinean Ezequiel Osvaldo Maderna (eliminated by Rodriguez) and a catchweight limit set between the 168lb weight class and the 175lb division.
