Fernando Cabanela A look back at his boxing career

The memorable feats of the “Little Brown Doll” of Phillipine boxing three decades ago may yet be duplicated-not just by any other Filipino prizefighter but by the son of the “Doll” himself. The Little Brown Doll is none other than Speed Cabanela, former Oriental flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight champion whose 24 year old son, Fernando (Lumacad) Cabanela, RP flyweight titleholder. It's one of the biggest breaks in the young Cabanela's six year career as a professional boxer and if he pulls through, he could well be on the way to his cherished dream of “becoming an accomplished, popular champion like my father.” Considering that he's had only 37 fights so far, the young Cabanela may still be far off his target, but could get to the top of his class sooner than expected if he maintains the fine form he had displayed in recent outings.
