Marco Antonio Rubio's promoter wants Sergio Martinez

Promoter Osvaldo Kuchle has promised to do everything in his power to ensure that Marco Antonio Rubio will receive his mandatory shot at WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez. Back in March, Kuchle was victorious before the Court for Arbitration in Sport (CAS), who issued a Consent Award for Rubio to secure his mandatory postion to the WBC title at 160-pounds. Martinez suffered injuries during his April victory over Martin Murray and won't fight until the first half of 2014.

Deontay Wilder vs Stiverne or Arreola?

Recently, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer discussed his goal of matching Deontay Wilder (30-0, 30KOs) against Bermane Stiverne (23-1-1, 20KOs) for the vacant WBC heavyweight title - if current champion Vitali Klitschko vacates the belt in 2014 to focus on a planned 2015 presidential run in Ukraine. If Vitali vacates, a fight between Wilder and Stiverne might be challenged by Chris Arreola (36-3, 31KOs), who is ranked at number two. Wilder is ranked at number three while Stiverne is the mandatory challenger.

Marcos Maidana "I won't let Broner disrespect me"

The Adrien Broner-Marcos Maidana fight may have been moved to San Antonio but the matchup still remains one of the more intriguing bouts this year. This will definitely be one of Broner’s biggest tests and this will be Maidana’s opportunity to fight for a world title in the Welterweight division. Before the fight was even officially announced, Broner and Maidana ran into each other in Las Vegas during the Floyd Mayweather-Saul Alvarez fight week. There was a confrontation where things got a little physical and there was reported pushing and shoving .

Trainer Miguel Diaz predicts a Pacquiao victory

Trainer Miguel Diaz predicts a Pacquiao victory October 31 2013 File:Miguel Diaz (trainer).jpg As we head into the final stretch of fights in 2013, the last pay per view event to close out the year will be Manny Pacquiao’s return against all-action Brandon Rios, who he is set to meet on Nov. 23 in Macau, China in an HBO pay per view clash. For some, the biggest intrigue heading into the match is what version of Pacquiao we are going to see. This past December, the Filipino star was knocked out in brutal fashion, as he was left lying unconscious after taking a counter right hand from Juan Manuel Marquez in the sixth round of their fourth encounter.

Path cleared for Floyd Mayweather-Amir Khan bout

AMIR KHAN is moving closer to a megabucks fight with Floyd Mayweather next year. Khan’s proposed fight with former WBC and IBF light-welterweight champ Devon Alexander has fallen through and that has paved the way for a superfight with unbeaten Mayweather. Khan said: “There’s a lot of talk about the Mayweather fight happening, but at the moment, I’ve left it up to my promotional team, Golden Boy.” A May date in Las Vegas is being discussed but there is also a chance of ‘Money’ Mayweather agreeing to the bout taking place at Wembley.

Floyd Mayweather easily defeats Canelo Alvarez

On the biggest stage boxing can provide, Floyd Mayweather (45-0, 26KOs) once again proved why he’s the best fighter in the world as he dominated and handed Saul “Canelo” Alvarez his first professional loss Saturday night. The final verdict was a surprising Majority Decision as one of the judges strangely scored the fight a draw with a 114-114 scorecard while the other two saw it 117-111 and 116-112 in favor of Mayweather. Mayweather looked sharp and accurate as he controlled the fight for 12 rounds and negated Alvarez’s offense and attack. The third was close and could have went either way. Garcia did very well in the fourth, countering off the back-foot and landed hard shots to Matthysse's head and body. Matthysse edged the fifth with a last minute flurry of punches. Both had their moments in the sixth, with Garcia going often to the body as Matthysse targeted the head.

Lucas Matthysse Quiet confidence

Lucas Matthysse never wanted this. The attention. The so-called hype. The interviews. The Angel Garcia negative rants about him. One thing a well-known boxer can count on is press written about him. Ever since Matthysse has been winning, and winning decisively the last coupler of years, it has been an endless stream of interviews requests, photo ops, and repeated questions about the same subject. Matthysse has been a good sport about all the attention he has received. His demeanor oozes confidence and humbleness, not cocky. All he has ever wanted to do in the sport of boxing is just put on a pair of gloves and fight when called upon.

Canelo,” which debuted Wednesday night. “And then he can fool you. His punches felt pretty strong. One body shot he threw was very painful. … You would think that he’s just a power puncher, but then he can also box and counter, too.

Floyd Mayweather says he was rusty against Guerrero, won't be against Canelo

Floyd Mayweather Jr. enjoyed a triumphant ring return this past May, soundly outboxing Robert Guerrero in their welterweight title fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The bout marked his first ring appearance in exactly 52 weeks, having previously outpointed Miguel Cotto before serving a brief prison stint and taking off the rest of the 2012 boxing season. The win ran Mayweather’s record to 44-0 (26KO) while solidifying his place as the best fighter in the world. But for all of the talk of the sport’s biggest attraction being obsessed with maintaining his “0”, mere perfection wasn’t even enough on that night. Instead, it’s a performance upon which he plans to build as he prepares for his epic pay-per-view clash with unbeaten Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KO) in the very same ring on Saturday.
